Dear Bishop:  I Quit!

Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints

Bishop Of Madison Branch

Madison, SD  57042

Dear Bishop:

Several weeks ago, I sent a letter to The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, requesting that my family’s names be removed from membership, and also that all information regarding church function and its history no longer be mailed to myself or my family members.

I have continued to receive unwanted and unwelcome literature from your church.  Perhaps I didn’t make my wishes clear to you or the church at that time.  I find that difficult to believe, considering the fact that just two weeks ago, I received another church bulletin with a hand-written note across the top informing me that “you were working on my request.”  The request referred to is the one that I made asking that my family’s names be removed from membership roles of your church.

Allow me to state this another way:  I no longer want my family to be associated with a church, which practices obvious anti-Christ teachings.  I find it repulsive as well as repugnant to expose my children to the teachings of the LDS church.  Had I known the full scope of the churches’ teachings, I never would have joined the LDS church.  The temple rituals, which you refer to as ‘sacred,’ are clearly nothing more than a secret ritual, which displays obvious lack of respect for The Holy Bible.  My family does not believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet.  He was a young man who apparently had a control issue in that he claimed to receive information from his god, ordering people to perform anti-Christian tasks, such as plural marriages and polygamy.

Your religion teaches that Jesus Christ was not born of the Virgin Mary, that someone came down from heaven and had relations with her, subsequently producing Jesus.  That information in itself is against the teachings of the Holy Bible.  While researching the mormon religion, I have also discovered that Joseph Smith and Brigham Young claimed that there were certain sins that Christ’s shed blood did not atone for.  Sadly, according to those two men, blood atonement should occur.  Many people have, in fact, been murdered in cold blood for leaving the mormon church.  The Bible clearly states that Christ’s blood was shed for the forgiveness of ALL sins.  How sad that a simple man could claim to know more than the one true God, the God of Christendom.

The Holy Bible clearly states in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that whoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”  Your religion again violates this teaching in demanding that people perform ‘good deeds’ to attain the kingdom of heaven.  We are saved purely by the grace of God, who lovingly sent His Son to die on the cross for our sins.  That single, unselfish act guarantees us a place in heaven.

No where in the Holy Bible does it state that we must attend a temple, assume the five points of fellowship, and repeat an incantation:  “Health in the navel, marrow in the bones, strength in the loins and sinews, power in the priesthood be upon me and upon my posterity and through all generation of time and through all eternity.”  By uttering this phrase, one is asking for the power of the satanic priesthood to dwell upon his or her family, and their future generations.  Nor does the Bible state that we should be assigned a secret name that we need to repeat in order to enter heaven. We should not call upon the power of the priesthood, but rather call out to God The Father, and Jesus Christ, His only Son, who was born of the Virgin Mary.

I have decided it is in the best interest of my family to join a Christian church, which we have done. It is my desire that you stop sending my family any and all forms of literature from the LDS church.  This also includes the magazines that are mailed monthly.  My family and friends have been informed of this seemingly unending situation.  Our names will be removed from membership lists of the mormon church.

If any libelous or slanderous statements are made against my family as a result of my request, the guilty person/people will be dealt with in accordance with the laws of our state.  I have consulted an attorney regarding this matter, he has informed me that any future attempts by your church to contact my daughters or myself will be deemed harassment, and will be legally dealt with in accordance with the laws of our state.

In conclusion, the mormon church will leave my family alone.

Sincerely,

Kathleen
