Hearing
the Voice of God

Hebrews
1:1-2 "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past
to the fathers by the prophets,2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He
has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; NKJV.
Many
Christians ask a similar question in life. How do you hear the voice of God? We think that
God makes it difficult to hear Him but really he makes it easy and we are the ones that
make it hard. When we focus on seeing "Signs & Miracles", we become a
perverse generation. God speaks to each one of His children in very similar but familiar
ways. God speaks to us in the language we best hear. Here are a couple of ways He speaks.
Are you listening?
1.
His Word - The Bible -- Most people miss out on the timeless love letters God has for
them. Take the time and write your name in places in the bible where you know God is
speaking to you. My favorite is Psalms 139. I love to plug my name in that psalm and know
how much God thinks of me. I get a warm feeling of His love just thinking about it. Plug
your name in those scriptures because they are God speaking to you. If you need wisdom put
your name into the Proverbs. You'll find God speaking to you in a very loving but firm
way. Don't read if you don't want to change.
2.
Through other People -- When people pay you a compliment that is the Lord speaking to you
through them. God is encouraging you so receive it and believe it. If you do not receive
it that does not mean that God did not speak it just means you think (Pride sets it's
opinion over God's truth) God is lying. When people give Godly wisdom, that is God
speaking to you to protect you from harm or danger. Many people take Godly wisdom as
someone trying to control them. People that give Godly wisdom will give you what they have
and let you decide what to do. Any kind word people have is God speaking to you telling
you how much he loves you. God uses people to speak to you.
3.
His Spirit-- God speaks to you through His Spirit. The coolest thing about this is that He
speaks to each person in the way they communicate. He speaks to a PHD in science different
than he does a redeemed gang-banger. (I have hung out with both groups) Could you see God
coming to a super intellect saying, "What's up homey"? NO!! God speaks to each
person the same way they communicate with others so it is so natural to hear Him because
He is speaking our language in a quiet voice. Because God speaks in our natural language
through His spirit, our life cannot be cluttered with the things of this world so we can
hear Him. He will nudge and encourage but He will never force, control, or make you decide
quickly. He is a gentleman in all the sense of the word. He talks to you the way you best
can receive it. Ask Him, He'll tell you in your own language.
God
is always speaking to us. We just need to see with our spiritual eyes and keep our souls
quiet so we can hear Him. He is really a great friend and His counsel never fails. I love
Him so!!!!
